3 Going On 30

That's what it feels like anyway...  I know I always say my kids are growing up too fast, but they really are.  This week especially. It was a busy one for sure.

Yesterday I ran all my errands, the first of which was bringing Bro to his 1 year check up.  ONE YEAR. Yeah.  He did great and everything went awesome.  He weighs just over 22lbs and is on the small side overall being only in the 17th percentile for his age.  This was proven to me by the three different women throughout the day all admiring him and guessing him to be about 6 months old. LOL  He checked out wonderfully for all his milestones. I forgot to do the ASQ form before hand (bad mommy *slaps own wrist*), so some things I had to test out with him in the office quickly before the doc came in.  I got him to turn the pages of the book (one of the questions) and to scribble on paper (another question which I didn't know if he'd actually do, but he picked it right up.  Oh, and they doc did say his head was large.  The only thing about him that was larger than average.  Surprise surprise.  It's that damn Poston head. LOL  Then came the fun part...shots.  He had to get five shots this time.  Luckily the nurse was awesome and went SUPER quick. He did cry of course, but I'm scooped him right and he was perfectly fine.  No more shots for 6 more months! Yay!

Next we went over to Target to pick out a few clothing essentials for Coop and Chlo.  I know I've mentioned their growth spurt in here, so Coop has (well had) no jeans that were long enough and Chlo had pretty much no summer outfits what-so-ever.  Even the clothes she just got from her birthday are almost all too small.  So Cooper got a pair of jeans and I bought Chlo a few shorts and tops outfits all 4T.  Yes 4T.  She's the same size as Cooper now and he's a 3T only Chloe's rear is a tad larger than his. LOL

And after that Bro and I did some grocery shopping then we made our way over to the Strasburg Rec Center to sign the big kids up for peewee T-Ball.  Of course, the sign up office is right accross the way from a daycare/preschool so Brodie kept wondering into the room trying to play with the big kids.  It was adorable.  I felt badly for having to go get him out of the doorway over and over again.  He just wanted to play. LOL  Well I got the kids signed up and even got a "sibling discount" for them being siblings on the same team.  Yet another perk to having little ones so close in age. LOL  Games don't start til June so we'll be getting more info on that throughout the month.

And lastly, we headed over the elementary school.  Yes ladies and gentleman, it is that time.  Time for Cooper to enroll in pre-school...

We first began thinking about Cooper starting preschool several months ago in December 2010 during one of his speech evaluations.  I know most of my "readers" are aware of Cooper's speech "delay", but for those who aren't Cooper had several hearing infections as an infant and had fluid on his ears until about 18 months old.  Because of that he developed a speech delay and underwent speech therapy from 22 months to almost 3 years old.  His evaluation in December was through the school to determine if he would qualify for speech help while in school.  It was determined that he DID qualify and in December we were informed that he could start preschool immediately after turning 3 in April.  For some reason, that came as a HUGE shock to me.  I mean, in the back of my mind I knew kids could go to pre school at 3, but for some reason it didn't really dawn on me that Cooper was "preschool aged" until then.

At first Josh and I kind of freaked out.  Cooper definitely wasn't ready for preschool, and quite frankly, neither were WE.  He hadn't even started potty training (all though we were informed that since he needed help he wasn't required to be potty trained like the other kids are).  Aside from potty training, I just didn't feel like he was "ready".

Boy has a lot changed.  I don't know if it's me that's changed or Cooper that's changed or a little bit of both.  A little bit of both I think.  Cooper has come such a long away in this short period of time.  All of our kids have.  I just can't believe it.  He's almost completely potty trained (aside from nighttime of course, but that won't effect school), he's become so much more social, and much more indepedent (even more so than he was already). He's just become, well, a boy.  No longer a toddler.  A kid.  And I think he's ready, and so am I.  :)

Josh on the other hand, well, he's still a hot mess, but I'm working on him. LOL

So I met the preschool teacher here in Strasburg and absolutely love her.  Only talked to her for a few minutes, but I got a wonderful vibe from her and I saw her interaction with her class, and I could just tell she really has a passion for what she does.  Teaching is one of those things you REALLY have to love in order to do it.  Like being a doctor or a nurse.  Have to have a passion for what you do and a truly care about those you're helping.  I could tell she was passionate about her work and about the kids.  So that in itself gave me great peace of mind, but before I reached my "peace of mind" state I noticed the size of the "preschoolers" and quickly asked if THESE were the three olds.  Luckily the were not.  They were the four year olds and they seemed gigantic to compared to my little guy LOL

Anyway, he's signed up and he'll be headed to Strasburg Elementary School's morning preschool session come August.  He's super excited and has been asking to "go to school with other kids".  It's adorable.  I can't wait.  I'm sure Josh and I will both be dropping him off his first day and will be both be carrying our own personal packet of tissues. LOL

That's it for this update everyone.  Thanks for checking in with us!
